The following is a great vacancy in biocuration and the management of a team of biocurators at the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge, UK. The European Nucleotide Archive project features both the well established annotated sequence repository and the cutting edge archive for next generation sequencing data, SRA. The position offers substantial opportunities to shape the way biocuration develops for this critical and foundational data resource for the life sciences.

Please direct informal enquiries to Guy Cochrane ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ), but note that all applications must be received through EBI's formal application procedure, available from http://tinyurl.com/29kzzld. Details:
EBI is looking for a Content Coordinator to join the European Nucleotide Archive (ENA) group at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) located on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK.

The post-holder will be responsible for scientific content, covering raw sequence data, assembly and alignment information and assembled and annotated sequences, derived from a variety of sources that includes data submission pipelines from experimental laboratories and sequencing centres, external data resources with whom we collaborate, and automated systems that draw upon rules curated in house. The team maintains close collaboration with both data submitters and database users and offers extensive helpdesk facilities; the post-holder's sub-team provides the public face of the project and is responsible for promoting use of the resource, user training and investigation of new types of nucleotide sequence data and user requirements.

The postholder will manage the sub-team of content-focused curators and bioinformaticians who deliver new and updated content into the databases of the ENA. As a senior member of the ENA team, the Content Coordinator will contribute proactively in the many collaborations of the team and will have input into strategic and tactical decision making to further the ENA project and broader EBI goals.

The EBI, part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), is a world-leading bioinformtics centre providing biological data to the scientific  community and the EBI provides world-class data and analysis resources to the biological community.
